| Ghosh Murder Papia Patna |
|
The Ghosh murder was one of the most shocking and brutal stories to ever hit the India press because of its severity and its meaning.
Great historian, Papiya Ghosh, who was also a noted professor at Patna University, was mortally stabbed to death on December 2, 2006. The brutal stabbing was a result of Ghosh’s desire to rebuild Bihar and make it more academic and more knowledgeable in all subjects. Ghosh herself was a great professor and had a wealth of knowledge and ideas in how to improve the lives of many in Bihar but now will never get a chance to share them. Papiy Ghosh was murdered in Patna, along with her maid. Ghosh was 53 and her maid was 70 years old. The home of Ghosh was destroyed and robbed after the killing and computers and other expensive items were missing from the upscale home in Patna. The home was a mere 100 meters from the police station. After the robbery and killing was over, the assailants covered up the two bodies and fled. There has still not been a discovery in who killed Ghosh or her maid. Papiya Ghosh will be remembered forever however as a woman with the dream of making Bihar more than it ever was before. Her dreams were to improve the economic situation of Bihar and make Patna a more established place to learn. Patna University misses their beloved professor and historian who provided Patna with much service over the past several years. |
